With so many charities around, it can
be hard to grasp the difference between them; hopefully the UNICEF on campus society
can help you to understand the vital nature of its work.
UNICEF is a world leading
organisation which works to help save children’s lives and protect their rights
in over 190 countries. The vision, which you can get involved in, is to create
a world fit for children.
UNICEF UK works in three ways –
championing children’s rights, winning support and raising money for their work
with children everywhere. It also advocates for lasting change for children.
This means that a whole sector of the charity works towards changing government
policies and practices that are detrimental to children’s rights in the UK and
internationally.
In 2010 UNICEF UK raised £61 million,
through people like you donating towards this vital cause. You can donate
towards UNICEF here - http://bit.ly/iMeAn3
Or donate your time by joining us at
UNICEF on campus here at UoB, and help save children’s lives.
Joining the UNICEF on campus society at Birmingham is a great way to meet and have fun with like-minded people and take part in fundraising - which not only looks great on your CV but also helps some of the most vulnerable people in the world. Another important aspect of our societies work is to simply raise awareness of UNICEF and the problems that it is trying to address. Coming along to a meeting or two and spreading the word can have just as big an impact as anything else so do get involved.
